After I installed the SP2 and reboot the server, when I try to print the a
report, it keep pop up the error message say"Error loading resource string",
after I click many times, I got the printer properties window, many text in
the button are disappear, but I still could print it out.
Any idea?
ThanksMy guess is that you had the beta of SP2. If so then you need to clear out
then per Brian Welcker (MS): You need to clean out any older versions of the
controls from your C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files directory.

Error loading metadata....PLZZ HELP!!
My Analysis Service has this strange errors....
My Calculation tabs, KPI tabs, Action tabs....all showing this error message at it's Calculation Tools metadata tab....
"Error loading metadata: The cube could not be retrieved from the server. Verify that the server is running and that cube is processed."
previously i even had the problem of running the script organizer for the Calculation tabs.....after installing the SP2, it's fixed, but the metadata error still there.....
i tried on my friends PC and it works fine and deploy successfully whereas mine cannot at all with all kind of errors.....
Hello. I would recommend you to uninstall BIDS on you machine and reinstall it again with SP2.
Since you have a deployed cube you can always reverse engineer it to a project in BIDS when it is working.

Error installing SQL Server Developer 2005
I'm trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and each
time I attempt to I get the error message:
"Failed to install and configure assemblies C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\90\NotificationServices\9.0.242\Bin\microso ft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll
in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087
Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501
Error description: MSDTC was unable to read its configuration information.
(Exception from HRESULT: 0x8004D027)"
Not only that, but in my Component Services->Distributed Transaction
Coordinator section, I get the following error message when trying to open
either the Transaction List or Transaction Statistics:
"Cannot open this folder because connection to the MSDTC service on 'My
Computer' failed."
Please help!

belittle it, but is not the most commonly used component of SQL Server.
So if you have no direct need of it, why not just skip installing it?

belittle it, but is not the most commonly used component of SQL Server.

Error installing SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor
I'm getting a Windows Installer error when attempting to run the Upgrade Advisor setup package (SQLUASetup.exe). The error message reads:
"This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service."
The machine is running Windows 2000 sp4. Both the .net framework v2 and Windows Installer 3.0 have been installed.

Other than Sql server 2005 enterprise edition you can install everything with Windows 2000 SP..........can you provide the details available in Summary.txt file available in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG.

I have a problem installing SQL Server 2000 standard edition in a Windows 2003 Server , when I try to setup there is a message saying :
" You cannot install SQL server 2000 sp 2 and below in this operating system " and the installation stops .
I have tried to run sp3 before the installation but obviously It doesnt work . I think the solution is something like updating the setup program to make it work in Windows 2003 Server , when I see the system requirements on the box it says that I can install SQL server 2000 in w2003 .

It's a warning message telling you that you have to patch up to sp2 or later to run SQL on Win2003. It should let you install SQL 2000 after that message. If you have problems, it's probably something else. How could you have sp3 installed on the server if you haven't installed SQL on there? Ken,
I tried a few times to get Reporting Services 2005 and Windows
SharePoint Services 2 working on the same box and failed with earlier
builds.
The specific problem you are seeing, I guess, is that say
http://localhost/reports and http://localhost/reportserver need to be
excluded paths (if I remember the terminology correctly in WSS2) on a
SharePoint server.
You need to find the Managed Paths screen to create the excluded
paths.
That's the first step, I think.

Error Installing Reporting Services
I attempt to run the Reporting Services installation and
get and on the screen right after the license agreement, I
get a message that says just "Error!" and I cannot
continue. Is there a log file somewhere I can look at -
nothing was installed so no directory exists on the hard
disk. I am running Windows 2000, .NET 1.1 framework, and
SQL Server 2000 Development with latest service pack.Here is the contents of a file I found in the temp

|||Are you trying to install a NEW instance or are you trying to install the
name of instance that already exists?
Have you tried NOT using SQL authentication / SA password at all (you can
always change that after installation), e.g.
setup.exe INSTANCENAME=MakeSureThisIsANewInstanceName
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0
If you are trying to upgrade an existing instance e.g. with MSDE 2000A you
will need the upgradesp switch (again, see the readme file).

|||Are you trying to install a NEW instance or are you trying to install the
name of instance that already exists?
Have you tried NOT using SQL authentication / SA password at all (you can
always change that after installation), e.g.
setup.exe INSTANCENAME=MakeSureThisIsANewInstanceName
DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0
If you are trying to upgrade an existing instance e.g. with MSDE 2000A you
will need the upgradesp switch (again, see the readme file).

Error installing MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine)
As i try to install MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine), i get this
error message :
"A strong SA password is required for security reasons.
Please use SAPWD switch to suply the same. Setup will now exit"
How do i solve this?Use the SAPWD switch when you invoke setup.exe, and give it a strong
password?
