Error installing SQL Server 2005 SP1 - Reporting Services - log excerpt included

Hello, any information about this issue would certainly be appreciated! I've been trying to install SP1 for my SQL Server 2005. There is a failure for the reporting services which appears in the following text from the log:

Sharepoint (not sure if that's what is referred to by "share point" up
above) is installed and working on the box in question. Any thoughts?
KenWell, I appear to have worked around it by uninstalling SharePoint
(both the "portal" and the "services" flavors). I reran setup, and it
worked that time. Luckily I didn't need SP on this box (yeah, yeah,
and it's still beta . . . )

Ken,
I tried a few times to get Reporting Services 2005 and Windows
SharePoint Services 2 working on the same box and failed with earlier
builds.
The specific problem you are seeing, I guess, is that say
http://localhost/reports and http://localhost/reportserver need to be
excluded paths (if I remember the terminology correctly in WSS2) on a
SharePoint server.
You need to find the Managed Paths screen to create the excluded
paths.
That's the first step, I think.

The installation program says 'please wait while windows configures
microsoft sql server 2000 reporting services enterprise edition' then we get
the error
'Failure modifying security permissions on file c:\Program Files\Microsoft
SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\RSTempFiles for user ...

Are you using a user account for the ReportServer windows services? In that
case, change the startup option for the service to use a LocalSystem account,
stop the service and then try to install the SP2. When the SP2 installation
program ends, go back to the service properties and change back the account.
Finnally restart your server.

I try sql setup newsgroup but nobody answer.
Hi,
I have a SQL server dev edition in windows XP pro, I wan to install
Reporting Services but I have an error at the end "error code 25619".
It creates two databases--> ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB.
How can I pass this error? Any ideas?

Trying to install the developer's version of Reporting Services on Windows
2003 Server with SQL Server 2000 SP3.
I click on SETUP.EXE and the very first dialog box comes up and says:
Software components to install:
>Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Setup Support Files
Error!
Cancel is the only option.
Any ideas?

form displays only a cancel button. Wait... Go get a cup of coffee... Tell
the joke of the day to the guy in the next cube... The continue button will
be displayed in a Microsoft second. I think this bad design by Bill's boys.
The cancel button should not be enabled until the install software figures
out what it's going to allow. A lot of folks probably hit Cancel
prematurely.

And I've got errors during installation :

Package 'ACT Project Package' has failed to load properly ( GUID = ...
Package 'ReportDesignerPackage' has failed to load properly ( GUID = ...
Package 'DataWarehouse VSIntegration layer' has failed to load properly
( GUID = ...
Now, I cannot load Ms. Visual Studio.NET at all. My question is :
1. How to solve this problem?
2. Is it wrong to install Report Server, Report Manager & Report
Designer in one computer?

but I restart it as wanted and nothing changed.
I forgot to mention that I've install VS.NET successfully at WinXP at

Error Installing Reporting Services

I attempt to run the Reporting Services installation and
get and on the screen right after the license agreement, I
get a message that says just "Error!" and I cannot
continue. Is there a log file somewhere I can look at -
nothing was installed so no directory exists on the hard

hi friends i created a web service for reporting service. When i try
to send the parameter i am getting error of "here is an error in the
query. Failed to execute web request for the specified URL." I am

The easiest way to resolve this issue is to use an HTTP tracer like
fiddler. As a starting point try creating a parameterless web method
and querying against that just to verify that you are hitting the end
point. If that works , the next step would be to check the element
path . I would look at the query being sent by using fiddler and then
compare it to the wsdl definition to see if the web service is getting
all its parameters in the format it expects. This article pertains to
using ssrs to query a MOSS webservice but should help you out.

Error in Reporting Services Configuration Manager

Hello

I've got an error when I want to initialize the Report Server by means of RS Configuration Manager.

All points are check in green except "Encryption Keys" that is in "Optionnal configuration" and "Initialization" that is in "Not Configured".

When I click on "Initialization" an error occured :

The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)

When I want to browse the report this error occured:

Error in Reporting Services Configuration Manager

Hello

I've got an error when I want to initialize the Report Server by means of RS Configuration Manager.

All points are check in green except "Encryption Keys" that is in "Optionnal configuration" and "Initialization" that is in "Not Configured".

When I click on "Initialization" an error occured :

The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable)

When I want to browse the report this error occured:

Error in reporting services

hi,

i am facing a problem in reporting services of Sql server 2005

i am trying to run the "third party tool"(Reports of proclarity) in sql server 2005

This is a bit of a guess, since I don't really know much about how Proclarity works with Reporting Services, but given that 'MDX Missing Member Mode' is a valid connection string property that only appeared with AS2005 are you perhaps trying to connect to Analysis Services using an older version of the OLEDB for OLAP Provider? You should be using MSOLAP.3; if you don't have it installed, you can download it here:

Check the connection string of your report (click the "Properties" tab and then select "Data Source" from the list on the left). Your connection string probably looks something like this:

Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=Adventure Works DW Standard Edition;Provider=MSOLAP;MDX Compatibility=2;MDX Missing Member Mode=Error

You need to change the "Provider" portion of the connection string from "MSOLAP" to "MSOLAP.3" so your connection string now looks something like this:

Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=Adventure Works DW Standard Edition;Provider=MSOLAP.3;MDX Compatibility=2;MDX Missing Member Mode=Error

I am trying to create a filter in the report builder on reporting services. When I try to filter I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and cannot get a list. When i put my cursor over the yellow triangle, I get the error "the requested list could not be retrived because the query is not valid or a connection could not be made to the data source. Any idea how this can be fixed so I can get a list of values?

This usually means you have something wrong with the data source connection behind the report model. Check that your model has a data source specified, and that the data source has a valid connection string and appropriate credentials.

I found that by granting "View folders" at the home level to the group/user resolved the issue. I created a custom Item-Level role with just this task to restrict access, but either the Browser or Report Builder roles would work as well as they have the "View folders" task associted with them.

However, if at all possible I would like to avoid giving users access to the Home folder so if someone could explain where and why this dependency exists it would be much appericated.

Error in HTML email.

My company is using Reporting Services with SP2 installed. We are sending
HTML emails to our customers. When the customer receives the email, there is
a fault in the html format.
Example:

At the fourth line <TD class="a there is CR in the source, the view of the
html email is then damaged, the customer, instead of seeing nice color and
fonts, the customer only sees the plain text.
This errors comes all over the html code !
We are sending the emails (SMTP) through Windows 2003. I have not seen
this error on SMTP Windows 2000. But we need to use Windows 2003 so I cant
use 2000.

error in execution time

hi all

i am working in sql reporting 2000.

In my report i have included field to display the execution time.

That time is not changing if i am running the report again & again.

Its only showing the time at which report was run first time in current Internet Explorer window.

how can i get current time in report?

If i am running other report & after that report if i am running this report then also its showing the last time at which the report was executed.

|||The reports might have been cached on the server if you specifically have set it to keep the last run report. So it may not be running the report, but instead getting the last cached report. I haven't tinkered with the settings, but it's an idea. You might want to check the report properties and then the execution tab..

Error in 2005--"Unable to locate control: ctl00oReportCell"

Hello,
We are using SRS2005 (April CTP) for a new reporting system. We are
using a hyperlink navigation action on a chart to go to a new report in
a new web page, and when we do that we're gettng the error "Unable to
locate control: ctl00oReportCell".
The URL we are using is with the "rc:Toolbar=false" flag and removing
this seems to fix the problem, but for this report we can't show the
toolbar.
Has anybody else gotten this error?

Error handling with MDX and Reporting Services

I have having trouble with an MDX Statement. There are some instances where the MDX statement I am passing in isn't correct or invalid. The report takes in serveral default parameters and creates an MDX statement from it. When this error happens I get an error similiar to

Formula error - cannot find dimension member ("[Time].[2005]") - in a name-binding function

on the report page. I would like to be able to handle this error in reporting services so how. Essientially, I would want to be able to just say if this error happens just take me the plain page and do not load up any defaults.You might consider this a hack, but this can be solved from outside Reporting Services with the new missing member functionality in 2005 (ie invalid member lookups wont generate errors),|||I am using RS 2005 and AS 2005 RTM.

I am having the report to accept a parameter UserUserID that accepts values such as [User].[User ID].&[1].

This is working fine when the front-end calls it with a correct/valid UserID.

When it is the calling the report with a valid UserID, two things that I observe happening:
a) when the Parameter is set to Hidden (on the Report Parameters properties), this error will be displayed "The 'UserUserID' parameter is missing a value"
b) when the Parameter is not set to Hidden, a blank page is shown with the parameter prompt <Select a Value>.

Is there any way to better handle situation a)? Since I need to hide the parameters from the end-users....
